How Chopt Came to Life

Chopt was born from a simple belief: that great food should be honest, fresh, and accessible. Founded in 2010 at 332 1st Ave in New York, we set out to redefine what a neighbourhood restaurant could be.

Our founders, longtime friends with a shared passion for culinary excellence, saw an opportunity to create a space where quality ingredients met creative cooking. They sourced relationships with local farmers and artisan producers, building a supply chain rooted in integrity and sustainability.

Our Journey

A History of Growth

From a small neighbourhood table to a celebrated New York dining destination — here is how Chopt grew.

2010

The First Table

Chopt opened its doors at 332 1st Ave, New York, with a 40-seat dining room and a concise menu of eight dishes. The first night sold out before 7pm.

2013

Farm Partnerships

We formalised partnerships with four upstate New York farms, ensuring a steady supply of seasonal, sustainably grown produce — a relationship still going strong today.

2016

Menu Expansion

Following overwhelmingly positive guest feedback, we expanded our menu to over 60 items, introduced a dedicated tasting menu, and launched our weekend brunch service.

2019

Recognition & Awards

Chopt was named one of New York's top neighbourhood restaurants by three independent dining publications and received our first regional culinary award for innovation.

2022

Online Ordering Launch

We launched our full online ordering platform, allowing guests across New York to enjoy Chopt from the comfort of their homes with the same quality standards upheld in-house.

2024

New Horizons

Chopt celebrates its 14th year serving New York with a refreshed interior, an expanded catering offer, and a renewed commitment to the community that made us who we are.

Executive Chef

With 18 years of professional culinary experience across New York and Europe, Marcus leads Chopt's kitchen with creativity and precision. His seasonal menus have become the restaurant's signature.

General Manager

Sophia oversees every facet of the Chopt dining experience, from staff development to guest relations. Her warmth and professionalism set the standard for our entire front-of-house team.

Head of Sourcing

Daniel's deep relationships with local farmers and artisan producers ensure that Chopt's ingredients are always at peak freshness. He travels weekly to select the finest seasonal produce.

Amara Collins

Pastry Chef
